Review: Hauppauge MediaMVP
Accessing your digital media on the TV set.
If
you are like most of today's digital population, you probably have
a huge collection of music, images and movies sitting on a disc
somewhere in a computer.
While they can be easily accessed on that computer it gets a bit trickier if you want to look, or listen, with a number of people. Sure you can huddle around the computer altogether but let’s face it, that might not be as cozy as heaving the luxury of doing this form the living room.
Of course if you would happen to have a true home theatre computer, such as we described in our MegaPC article, this would be no problem, but then again… You might want to access the storage facility of the home theatre computer from other rooms as well.
Hauppauge, that's probably best known for their TV tuner-cards, came up with a solution to this problem. The MediaMVP, which stands for Music Video and Pictures, is a small standalone device that hooks up to an Ethernet port and plugs into your TV and audio system. Having its own processor it simply taps into the storage of a computer on your network.
